Philippine Embassy Promotes Best-Selling Philippine Products at the 2023 ALFS Bazaar
The Philippine Embassy, led by Philippine Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, participated in the 2023 charity bazaar of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) on 10 May 2023 at Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo, Japan. The event featured the local produce of twenty (20) ALFS member countries from the Asia Pacific region.
Ambassador Garcia-Albano was also among the officials who welcomed Her Imperial Highness Princess Hanako Hitachi, the Bazaar’s guest of honor. HIH Hitachi also visited all the booths of participating embassies to look at the various items on display.
The Philippines sold well-loved dried mangoes, fruit juices, various locally-made bags, household items, and other handicrafts. Proceeds of the bazaar will be collected by ALFS for eventual donation to various charities including beneficiary organizations in member countries.
In 2019, ALFS donated to the Development Action for Women Network (DAWN) a non-government, non-profit organization in the Philippines aimed at assisting distressed women migrants returning from Japan, as well as their Japanese-Filipino children, in the promotion of their rights and welfare.
ALFS is a non-profit and non-government organization established in 1968 to promote peace and camaraderie between Japan and its neighboring countries in the Asian region. As of 2023, twenty-five (25) embassies from the Asia Pacific region are members of ALFS. The ALFS undertakes various activities including the annual charity bazaar where proceeds are donated to various organizations in member countries.
These accomplishments are brought to fruition by supporters and the attendees at the bazaar. ALFS also conducts this activity with its members with the hope of expanding its circle of friendship that advocates for peace and prosperity around the globe.
