Domestic Violence

Domestic violence cases in Japan mainly involve violence against women and their children. Filipino women with Japanese or other foreign spouses who are subjected to physical and emotional abuse can approach the Embassy for assistance and protection from their abusive spouses within Japan or to seek immediate repatriation to the Philippines.

For these cases, the Embassy can:

  • conduct interviews and provide counseling;
  • coordinate with police, local government offices, women’s shelter; and
  • provide or coordinate the provision of consular services such as issuance of passport and travel documents, civil registration, and notarization services.
