Philippine Embassy Hosts Meeting With PRC Chairperson Charito A. Zamora and Filipino Professionals in Japan as Part of Community Outreach
As part of its continuing outreach to the Filipino community in Japan, the Philippine Embassy hosted a gathering of Filipino professionals on 17 February 2024 at the Embassy’s Siazon Hall, with Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairperson Charito A. Zamora as special guest. This was the first time after the pandemic that an event brought together Filipino professionals to network and share their experiences about living and working in Japan.
In his welcome remarks, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Robespierre L. Bolivar noted that the Embassy has been “working proactively…to reach out to the various segments of the Filipino community in Japan to find out how we may be of service to them and, more importantly, how we can partner with them to promote the interests of the Philippines and the Filipino community” and that ”the Embassy will always support initiatives to promote and protect the interests of our community and our kababayans in Japan.”
Embassy officials, including representatives from the Departments of Agriculture, Tourism, and Migrant Workers were also present to provide updates on their respective programs and services and to answer questions from the community members.
In her keynote speech, PRC Chairperson Zamora shared the latest improvements in the PRC’s processes related to the application and renewal of professional licenses. She noted that the PRC is also working on bringing their services abroad for the benefit of the overseas Filipinos.
During the Q&A session, Chairperson Zamora and the Embassy agreed to work together to bring the PRC’s services closer to Filipinos in Japan, initially through the PRC’s participation in the Embassy’s long-standing ARTA Caravan during the annual Philippine Festival in Tokyo.
The PRC is the licensing and regulatory agency of the national government for the practice of regulated professions in the Philippines.
The Embassy co-organized the meeting with the newly-established Filipino Professionals in Japan (FPiJ).
