Reviews on ASEAN’s 50 Years Path to the ASEAN Community
On 08 August 2017, the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), in cooperation with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, JETRO and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry successfully organized “ASEAN 50th Anniversary Symposium: Reviews on ASEAN’s 50 Years Path to the ASEAN Community” at the Magnolia Hall, Tokyo Prince Hotel.
The symposium began with welcome remarks from AJC Secretary-General Masataka Fujita and Vietnamese Ambassador and current ACT Chair, H.E. Nguyen Quoc Cuong followed by presentations from Professor Susumu Yamakage of Aoyama Gakuin University, Dr. Dionisius A. Narjoko of ERIA, Mr. Jun IIjima of Sumitomo Corporation, Mr. Takumi Nakai of FPT Japan and Mr. Kazushi Yamanaka of Asia Pulp Paper Japan Limited.
The symposium focused on the review of the political as well as economic developments in ASEAN in the past 50 years and challenges that ASEAN will face in the future as it continues to assert its position in the international community. END
