Ambassador Laurel Encourages Filipinos to Invest in the Philippines
Tokyo, Japan –Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V heralded the strong and steady growth of the Philippine economy and encouraged leaders of the Filipino Community to invest in the Philippines, in his remarks during the oath-taking ceremonies for the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) on 19 January 2019.
In an inspirational message delivered before administering the oath of office to the new PAG leadership, Ambassador Laurel told community leaders that the Philippines remains one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, and that this growth can be seen all over the country. He also announced an Embassy initiative to organize financial literacy training for Filipinos to enable them to save and invest in the Philippines.
After the oath-taking ceremonies, the Ambassador and Consul General Robespierre Bolivar awarded Certificates of Commendation to the outgoing officers of the PAG, in recognition of their assistance to Filipinos in distress and their valuable contributions toward building the Filipino community.
The Philippine Assistance Group is a Tokyo-based federation of Filipino community organizations formed in 1997. Its primary objective is to raise funds to assist Filipinos in distress, both in Japan and in the Philippines. In over 22 years of existence, the Group has helped a number of Filipinos in Japan in need of emergency assistance and has sent substantial aid to communities affected by natural calamities.
