Ambassador Allies With PEZA To Promote Investment
A Testimonial in Honor of Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V and Briefing on the Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s (PEZA) investment promotion programs and the “Global Biz with PEZA” was held today via Zoom.
The event aims to strengthen the business relations of Post and PEZA, brief the Ambassador on the investment programs and incentives offered by the Authority, and propose a partnership in the conduct of the investment forum “Global Biz with PEZA.”
“Global Biz with PEZA” is a monthly online global investor forum where export investors, industry associations, foreign chambers, investment promotion partners or Ka-PIPPs, ecozone developers and operators, local government units, business people, professional cooperatives, national agencies, economists, and lawmakers meet to discuss business and investments in PEZA’s economic zones.
In his remarks, Ambassador Laurel V cited that “Japan remains to be a major trading and foreign investment partner, as well as the top source of development assistance for the Philippines.”
According to PEZA, there are 964 Japanese locator companies in the country, which generated jobs for 351,806 Filipinos and $9.587-billion worth of exports. Of the country’s P32.057-billion investments, P11-billion of which came from Japanese enterprises, which includes companies from the export manufacturing sector, IT sector, facilities operations, and logistics providers.
Ambassador Laurel V also shared that Japan continues to invest in the Philippines due to its competitive advantages which includes cost competitiveness, high quality and educated human resource, and attractive investment incentives.
