Ambassador Garcia-Albano Presents Her Credentials in Federated States of Micronesia

26 February 2024 – Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano presented her credentials to President Wesley Simina, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), on 26 February 2024.

In ceremonies held at the Office of the President, Ambassador Garcia-Albano thanked President Simina for his warm reception and expressed hope that her accreditation will open up a new era of cooperation between the Philippines and the FSM. She praised the excellent people-to-people relations of the two countries as the foundation of good state-to-state relations. She noted how new challenges like climate change have become more acute for island countries like the Philippines and FSM, and that the two well-endowed countries in the high-growth region of the Indo-Pacific have the unique opportunity to continue to contribute to the growth of the global economy. She added that as two Pacific nations, the collaboration of the Philippines and FSM will be able to produce beneficial outcomes, and find common ground in the international stage for peace and security, as well as in areas of shared advocacy.

President Simina referred to the 35 years of diplomatic relations of FSM and the Philippines. He assured the Philippines of FSM cooperation in developing political and diplomatic relations, and to further engage the Philippines for mutually beneficial ends. He fondly recalled his meeting with President Marcos and expressed deepest appreciation for the assistance and hospitality extended to FSM citizens in their studies, and their leisure, medical and business activities in the Philippines.

Present at the ceremonies were Vice President Aren Palik, Speaker of the 23rd Congress of FSM, Foreign Minister Lorin Robert, and members of the diplomatic corps.
