Minato City and Minato City Assembly Donate to Victims of Typhoon Lando

H.E. Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez accepts the donation from Hon. Masaaki Takei, Mayor of Minato City. With the Ambassador are Second Secretary and Consul Dominic Xavier M. Imperial and Ms. Guia P. Dangca, Finance Officer and Attache. Joining Mayor Takei are Hon. Masahiko Ukai, Chairperson of Minato City Assembly, Mr. Osamu Kitamoto, Mr. Tatsumi Takahashi, and Mr. Kenji Kameda.

03 November 2015 – The Mayor of Minato City, Hon. Masaaki Takei, and the Chairperson of the Minato City Assembly, Hon. Masahiko Ukai, called on Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez on 29 October to personally hand over their donation amounting to JPY 1 million and JPY 100,000, respectively, for Filipinos affected by Typhoon Lando (International Name Koppu).

The Mayor and the Chairperson were joined by the Director General of Disaster Prevention and Crisis Management Department, Mr. Tatsumi Takahashi, the Director General of Secretariat of the City Assembly, Mr. Osamu Kitamoto, the Director of the Disaster Prevention Section, Mr. Kenji Kameda, and staff of the Office of the Mayor and the City Assembly.

Mayor Takei and Chairperson Ukai expressed their sympathies for the victims of Typhoon Lando and conveyed their hope for immediate recovery. Minato City deeply understands this difficult time for the country having been affected by floods in the past.

The Ambassador conveyed his deep appreciation to Mayor Takei, Chairperson Ukai, and the people of Minato City for their sympathies and generous donation which will help in the recovery efforts being undertaken in the flood-affected areas.

Minato City is one of the 23 central city wards of Tokyo and is host to the Philippine Embassy and 80 embassies. There are nearly 18,500 foreign residents in Minato which represents 8% of the total city population.
