Philippine Ambassador Promotes Filipino-Japanese Friendship Through Golf

On 7 April 2023, Philippine Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano attended the awarding ceremony of the 2023 Charity Golf Tournament of the Pinoy Golf Association in Japan (PGAJ) held in Ibaraki Prefecture.

PGAJ holds this annual event to further encourage friendship between Filipinos and Japanese by playing golf. This year, PGAJ was once again able to invite participants from the Philippines to join the tournament.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano acknowledged the effort, skill, and perseverance displayed by the players during the tournament. The Filipinos’ skills in golf were also recognized in the last Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Philippines was fortunate to have three golf players representing the country during the games. The Ambassador also invited the Japanese players to visit the Philippines to play in the popular golf courses located throughout the country.

PGAJ is an organization that brings together Filipino golf enthusiasts to promote the sport among the Filipino community in Japan and to build camaraderie within the Filipino golfing community, a well as with Japanese nationals and other expatriates.
