Ambassador-designate Manuel M. Lopez Calls On Japan’s Foreign Ministry
After arriving in Tokyo on 17 January 2011, Ambassador-designate Manuel M. Lopez presented a copy of his letter of credentials and a copy of the letter of recall of his predecessor to Vice Foreign Minister Kenichiro Sasae on 21 January 2011 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He conveyed his formal request to present his credentials to His Majesty the Emperor.
They exchanged views on Philippines-Japan relations and discussed ways to enhance and deepen the strategic partnership between both countries.
Ambassador-designate Lopez has begun making the rounds of calls and visits on key Japanese officials and his counterparts in ASEAN missions in Tokyo. He has also started meeting the members of the Filipino community.
In a welcome lunch tendered by officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy on 26 January 2011, Ambassador-designate and Mrs. Lopez expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and support accorded them since their arrival.
In his address to the officers and staff of the Embassy, he said, “I hope to continue working with all of you in representing the best of the Philippines in Japan.”
