International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day 2020

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), including its Foreign Service Posts like the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, and the member institutions of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) As Hoc Committee created through Executive Order No. 134, s. 1999, join the entire country in the observance of IHL Day 2020 with the theme “Preserving Human Dignity in Times of Armed Conflict: A Shared Responsibility”.

The Philippines, as a Contracting Party to all four Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 and its three protocols, reaffirms its commitment to the effective implementation of IHL.

To limit brutality of war, the Geneva Conventions were signed in 1949 as part of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Learn more about IHL and the Geneva Conventions in this infomercial by the IHL Ad Hoc Committee in the observance of IHL Day, pursuant to Executive Order No. 134, s. 1999.
