Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V Visits US Aircraft Carrier USS Ronald Reagan

11 February 2022, Kanagawa, Japan – At the invitation of the Commander of the US 7th Fleet Vice Admiral Karl Thomas, Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V, Philippine Defense Attaché to Japan Colonel Randy Espino and Philippine Embassy officials visited the US Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronal Reagan (CVN 76), docked at its homeport at the US Base in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan.

The tour concluded with a dinner hosted by Vice Admiral Karl Thomas.

Named after the 40th US President, USS Ronald Reagan was commissioned in July 2003 making it the ninth US Navy’s Nimitz-class nuclear powered aircraft carrier. USS Ronald Reagan conducted humanitarian and relief operations in the Philippines when the country was hit by Typhoon Frank in 2008.
