April is “Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino” or “Filipino Food Month”
On 13 April 2018, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed Proclamation No. 469 declaring the whole month of April of every year as “Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino” or “Filipino Food Month.” Under said law, Philippine “culinary tradition and treasures should be appreciated, preserved and promoted to ensure their transmission to future generations and to support the various industries, farmers and agri-communities which benefit therefrom.”
In connection to this, on 18 April 2018, the Philippine Embassy participated in the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) Festival and Charity Bazaar wherein Philippine dishes such as Menudo, Beef Caldereta, Pancit Bihon, Chicken and Pork Barbecue, Chicken Pork Adobo, Turon, Banana-cue, Ginataang Halo-Halo and Biko were promoted and served to Japanese and foreign guests of the Bazaar.
