TOKYO, 24 April 2026 – In line with its continuing campaign to promote the best of the Philippines and in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Philippines-Japan Diplomatic Relations this year, the Philippine Embassy in Japan showcased Filipino craftsmanship and food products during the annual Asia-Pacific Festival and Charity Bazaar organized by the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) on 22 April 2026 at the Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo.

“The Philippine Embassy always looks forward to its participation in the annual ALFS Bazaar as this event provides us an excellent opportunity to highlight our world-class handcrafted items, commitment to sustainable fashion, and well-loved food products to the Japanese and international public. This meaningful endeavor is also a symbol of the camaraderie and people-to-people ties – a beacon of Philippines-Japan relations as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of our bilateral friendship this year,” stated Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano following the event.

Established in 1968, the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society seeks to foster friendship and mutual understanding among its members. As of 2026, the Society has close to 400 members from 26 countries, mostly represented by women ambassadors and the spouses of ambassadors to Japan.

The annual Asia-Pacific Festival and Charity Bazaar is the organization’s major charity activity. Proceeds from the bazaar help support various welfare projects and disaster recovery efforts both in Japan and in the home countries of ALFS members.
