Philippine Embassy Celebrates Family Day with ASEAN Embassies in Tokyo

TOKYO, 15 October 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan, led by Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, joined fellow embassies of Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for the annual ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day on 10 October 2026 at Yumenoshima Park in Koto City, Tokyo.
This yearly tradition featured friendly games for the ASEAN ambassadors, embassy representatives and family members, including archery, tug-of-war, and three-legged race.
“The ACT Family Day has always been a much-awaited event for all ASEAN embassies in Tokyo, and this year’s get-together was indeed a celebration of unity in diversity as we gathered in the spirit of sportsmanship, cooperation and unity. As Chair of ASEAN this year, the Philippines celebrates these values as our regional community navigates its future together,” stated Ambassador Garcia-Albano following the activity.

Each ASEAN embassy also shared some of its country’s well-loved dishes and refreshments to all participants, with the Philippine Embassy serving the Philippines’ iconic adobo, as well as sweetened saba bananas, and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
Attendees from various ASEAN embassies visit the Philippine Embassy booth to enjoy Filipino food and refreshments.
The Embassy of Brunei Darussalam served as ACT Family Day 2026 organizer, with the Embassy of Malaysia emerging as overall champion. The event was also attended by Mr. Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre.
