PH Embassy Supports FilCom Chorale’s Kizuna 70 Concert Celebrating Seven Decades of PH-JP Friendship

The FilCom Chorale delivers an evocative performance of classic Filipino and Japanese melodies during their successful “Kizuna 70” concert at the Shibuya Cultural Center Owada Sakura Hall on October 28, 2026.

TOKYO, 30 October 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan, led by Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, proudly supported the highly anticipated “Kizuna 70” concert of the FilCom Chorale on 28 October 2026, at the Shibuya Cultural Center Owada – Sakura Hall. The concert served as the chorale’s contribution to the year-long celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Japan this year.

The “Kizuna 70” concert stands as the FilCom Chorale’s contribution to the milestone celebration marking the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Japan.

In a magnificent display of bilateral harmony, the FilCom Chorale partnered with the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) Cultural Dance Troupe to enthrall the audience with a wonderfully curated selection of Japanese and Filipino songs and traditional dance numbers.

TUFS Cultural Dance Troupe showcases a vibrant array of traditional Filipino and Japanese dances, highlighting the unique heritage of various provinces and prefectures from the two countries.

Beyond honoring the rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted friendship of the two countries, the concert served a noble philanthropic purpose. Proceeds from the event will make a meaningful contribution to the Couples for Christ Japan Answering the Cry of the Poor (CFC Japan ANCOP) Scholarship Program, which provides vital educational assistance to deserving but economically disadvantaged college students in the Philippines.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano warmly greets the FilCom Chorale, TUFS Cultural Dance Troupe, and members of the Filipino Community in Japan who are in attendance at “Kizuna 70.”

In her message for the concert, Ambassador Garcia-Albano lauded the FilCom Chorale for its steadfast partnership with the Embassy in promoting Philippine culture and heritage across Japan.

“Culture and the arts are vital threads that have woven our two nations together over the past seven decades. It is truly fitting that the FilCom Chorale has chosen the theme ‘Kizuna’ — a Japanese word that beautifully captures the deep people-to-people bonds between our two countries, masterfully expressed through Filipino and Japanese classical melodies and traditional dances,” she said.

Aside from the Filipino Community, the event was attended by His Excellency Archbishop Francisco Escalante Molina, the Apostolic Nuncio to Japan, and other members of the diplomatic corps. Japanese and international audiences also supported the concert.

FilCom Chorale was formed in 2010 when a dedicated group of Filipinos from Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama united to sing during a eucharistic celebration. Driven by a shared passion and mission, the group has since been inspired to continuously share their time and talents to promote Filipino heritage and cultural identity in Japan. Since its establishment, FilCom Chorale has held six concerts, including during the 60th year of Philippines-Japan friendship in 2016.
