TOKYO, 29 October 2026 – In celebration of Museums and Galleries Month in the Philippines this October, the Philippine Embassy in Japan participated in the second installment of the “Markets Around the World” Minato International Cultural Exhibition at the Museum of Narratives (MoN) Takanawa in Tokyo.
The “Markets Around the World” is part of the museum’s special showcase entitled “Prayers and Festivals of the World.” This special showcase brings the Philippines’ historic city of Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre site, on display at one of the newest museums in the heart of Tokyo. The first run of the exhibition was successfully held in September 2026 at the Tokyo Midtown Galleria in Minato City.

Aside from the Vigan market photo, the exhibition features a vibrant Filipiniana collection on loan to MoN Takanawa from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) Philippine Cultural Dance Troupe. To further immerse visitors, a promotional video from the Department of Tourism (DOT) of the Philippines, coordinated through the Office of the Tourism Attaché in Tokyo, played on loop in the background, inviting museum-goers to explore and visit the country.

Through its participation in the exhibition, the Philippines offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage, beautifully embodied by its community life, historic architecture, and traditional attire.
“Markets Around the World” is an exhibition organized by the Minato City in partnership with various Embassies in Minato City. Its host venue, MoN Takanawa, is an innovative, experimental cultural hub that opened in March 2026 within the Takanawa Gateway City development in Minato City, Tokyo.
