Three Philippine Chorale Groups Win at the 2023 Tokyo International Choir Competition
The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo congratulates the Central Luzon State University Maestro-Singers, the Tarlac State University Chorale, and the Concourse Singers for winning numerous awards at the recently concluded 2023 Tokyo International Choir
Competition held on 28-30 July 2023 at Dai-ichi Seimei Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The Central Luzon State University Maestro-Singers led by Choirmaster and conductor Dr. Florante P. Ibarra, won the Second Gold Prize for the Youth Choir and Contemporary Music Categories, the Best Interpretation in Compulsory Piece for Youth Choir Category, the Big Wave Award as the Most Promising Choir of the Year, the Audience Prize Award, and the Silver Prize for Video Presentation Category.
The Tarlac State University Chorale led by its Conductor Joshua Ysmael Fontanilla were awarded the Gold prize for the Folklore Music and Youth Choir categories, the Audience Choice Award, and the 3 rd Placer in the Youth Choir category.
Meanwhile, The Concourse Singers, won first place in the Video Presentation Category.
The Tokyo International Choir Competition is an annual chorale competition established in 2018 and is supported by the Japan Agency for Cultural Affairs.
