Philippines Reaffirms Commitment To Women, Peace and Security Agenda During Call on Japan Foreign Minister For Bangsamoro Milestone
The Philippine officials were part of a delegation to the Symposium Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 7 August 2024 in Tokyo, Japan. The signing of the CAB effectively ended decades of conflict in the Bangsamoro region in Mindanao, southern Philippines.
The Philippine delegation included the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Carlito G. Galvez Jr., Government Peace Implementing Panel for the GPH-MILF Peace Accord Cesar B. Yano, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, and BARMM Minister of Basic, Higher, Technical Education Mohagher M. Iqbal. The delegation paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kamikawa on 7 August.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Philippine delegation briefly discussed the Philippines’ commitment to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, which continues to inform policies and initiatives aimed at ensuring women’s empowerment and participation in peacebuilding efforts in BARMM.
