Philippine House Delegation and JPPFL Hold Parliamentary Exchange in Tokyo

Members of the Philippine House of Representatives (HOR) met with key officials of the Japan-Philippines Parliamentary Friendship League (JPPFL) on 25 August 2026 in Tokyo, Japan.

The meeting featured Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño Santos, Chairperson of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Representative Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica, Chair of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Society for the 20th Congress. The Philippine lawmakers met with JPPFL Chairman Hiroshi MORIYAMA and JPPFL Secretary-General Taku OTSUKA to discuss ways of deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations, coinciding with the landmark 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippine-Japan diplomatic relations.

Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano and Japan’s Ambassador-designate to the Philippines Katsuro KITAGAWA were also present at the meeting.

Rep. Santos and Rep. Villarica are members of the HOR delegation in Tokyo to participate in the 88th Council Meeting and 54th General Assembly of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians’ Union (APPU). The other members of the delegation include Hon. Maria Georgina P. de Venecia, Chairperson, House Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy; Hon. Maria Rachel J. Arenas, Deputy Speaker; and Hon. Emigdio P. Tanjuatco III, Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
