Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano participated in the 330th ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Meeting and lunch reception held on 7 August 2026 in Hiroshima City.

The ACT, led by the Embassy of Singapore as the current Chair, co-organized the meeting with the Hiroshima-ASEAN Association (HAA), chaired by Ms. Setsuko KOMATSU. This marked the second ACT meeting to be held in Hiroshima in partnership with the HAA, providing an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between ASEAN Member States and stakeholders in Hiroshima on the eve of the 59th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN.

The Embassy marks the 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary by playing the ASEAN hymn during its flag-raising ceremony on 10 August. Personnel also watch the video message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Chair of ASEAN for 2026, as he underscores the region’s shared aspirations for peace, stability, and inclusive growth.

As the representative of the ASEAN Chair 2026, Ambassador Garcia-Albano briefed the Committee on the outcomes of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings that were convened in Manila last month. The briefing highlighted the key outcomes of the ministerial meetings and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to advancing ASEAN’s priorities under its 2026 Chairmanship theme, “Navigating the Future, Together.”
