PH Ambassador Highlights Philippine Culture and Traditions in Embassy’s Participation in Koinobori Art Exhibition

Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, accompanied by her son, Mr. Rafael Alfredo G. Albano, visits the Koinobori Gallery Exhibition on 30 April 2026 at Tokyo Midtown Garden featuring the collaborative work of the Embassy’s resident artists, Ms. Avela G. Semaña and Mr. Kim Czar A. Bacongco. Their design, rendered on a traditional koinobori or carp-shaped streamer, is exhibited alongside 100 other koinobori creations by artists and designers from Japan and around the world.
TOKYO, 08 May 2026 – Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano visited to the Koinobori Gallery Exhibition on 30 April 2026 at Tokyo Midtown Garden in Minato City to support and promote the art exhibit featuring the collaborative work of the Embassy’s resident artists, Ms. Avela G. Semaña and Mr. Kim Czar A. Bacongco. Their design, rendered on a traditional koinobori or carp-shaped streamer, was exhibited alongside 100 other koinobori creations by artists and designers from Japan and around the world.
The annual exhibition is held in celebration of Children’s Day in Japan.
“The Philippine Embassy is pleased to participate in the Koinobori Gallery Exhibition as part of our efforts to promote Philippine culture and heritage at the community level. This is also an opportunity for us to celebrate Children’s Day with our host country, and wish for the success and happiness of the youth, as well as recognize the contribution of parents and families in their upbringing,” highlighted Ambassador Garcia-Albano following the visit.

Entitled “Strength in Motion”, the Philippine Embassy’s exhibition entry created by its resident artists, Ms. Avela G. Semaña and Mr. Kim Czar A. Bacongco, features traditional Philippine toys and games, which reflect a shared value that children grow strong through movement and play, in line with the theme “Wishing for Children’s Growth”.
Entitled “Strength in Motion,” the Embassy’s exhibition entry features traditional Philippine toys and games that reflect the shared belief that children grow strong through movement and play, in keeping with this year’s theme, “Wishing for Children’s Growth.”
Now on its 10th edition, the outdoor exhibition will run until 10 May 2026.
