Marubeni Donates JPY 10 Million for Typhoon ‘Pablo’ Victims

Representatives of Marubeni Corporation, one of Japan’s largest general trading companies, called on Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel M. Lopez last 18 December 2012 to convey its commitment to donate a total amount of JPY 10 million (approximately PHP 5 million) for the victims of Typhoon Pablo (international name: Bopha) in the Philippines.
Former Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Makoto Katsura, in his capacity as Corporate Advisor to Marubeni Corporation, expressed his company’s sympathy for the tragic loss that occurred in the Southern part of the Philippines. Ambassador Katsura said that Marubeni is donating JPY 5 million (approximately PHP 2.5 million) through the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (NDRRMC), while another JPY 5 million (approximately PHP 2.5 million) will be donated through the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo.
Accompanying Ambassador Katsura was Ms. Aya Matsuo, Manager for Marubeni’s Global Strategy and Coordination Department, Asia-Oceania Team.
Ambassador Lopez thanked Ambassador Katsura and the Marubeni Corporation for their generous contribution. He said that Marubeni’s assistance would make Christmas for the typhoon victims a little brighter despite their loss.

It has business presence in at least 70 countries. In the Philippines, Marubeni has projects in the fields of power/energy, transportation, real estate, water, trading, among others.
