TOKYO, 28 August 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan, led by Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, together with the Office of the Tourism Attaché and the Office of the Agriculture Attaché in Tokyo, hosted the launch reception for Mamita’s Chicken Adobo on 25 August 2026. The event featured the ready-to-heat chicken adobo developed by the team of Filipino-Japanese model, television personality, and commentator Ms. Yu Takahashi.

Mamita’s Chicken Adobo offers a convenient take on the iconic Filipino comfort food adapted with the Japanese consumer in mind, and packaged in a ready-to-heat pouch.

Mamita’s Chicken Adobo was inspired by the home-style adobo recipe of Ms. Yu Takahashi’s mother, whom she fondly calls “Mamita.” During the launch, Ms. Takahashi shared that she and her team developed the product with the aim of sharing the warmth of Filipino cuisine to Japanese consumers. Growing up, she looked forward to coming home from school to the comforting aroma of her mother’s adobo—a feeling of home she now hopes to share with people throughout Japan.

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Garcia-Albano expressed her delight at seeing this beloved Filipino dish introduced to the Japanese market.

“Adobo is widely regarded as the heartbeat of Filipino cuisine. It is a dish whose flavors Filipinos closely associate with home. The familiar combination of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and black peppercorns can immediately bring back memories of meals with family, and for many of us, the comforting aromas of our mothers’ and grandmothers’ kitchens,” she said. She also emphasized that the launch comes at a very significant moment as the Philippines and Japan celebrate the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations this year.

Mamita’s Chicken Adobo is now available online via BASE and at selected Torokeru Hamburg Fukuyoshi locations.
