PH Donates UN80 Commemorative Stamps to Postal Museum Japan

Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Christian L. De Jesus of the Philippine Embassy in Japan formally turned over the Philippines’ donation of UN80 commemorative stamps and first-day covers to Postal Museum Japan Executive Fellow Eisuke Fujimoto on 28 October 2025.

TOKYO, 31 October 2025 – In line with the commemoration of United Nations (UN) Day every 24 October and World Post Day every October 9, the Philippine Embassy in Japan donated commemorative stamps and first-day covers marking the 80th founding anniversary of the UN, as well as the Philippines’ pioneering membership, to the Postal Museum Japan on 28 October 2025.

The commemorative stamps were turned over by the Embassy’s Chargé d’affaires, a.i. (CDA) Christian L. De Jesus to Postal Museum Japan Executive Fellow Eisuke FUJIMOTO.

Mr. Fujimoto presented to the Embassy the museum’s extensive display of postal stamps all over the world and Japanese philatelic paraphernalia, including a priceless collection of 3,660 Philippine stamps dated as early as 1864.

CDA De Jesus viewed the collection of Philippine stamps at the Postal Museum Japan on 28 October 2025.

“The postal museum beautifully demonstrates the connection between art and history, and the lasting role of postal systems in connecting hearts and minds”, CDA De Jesus remarked during a tour of the museum.

The turnover of the commemorative stamps also coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the primary forum for international cooperation in the postal sector of which the Philippines and Japan are members.

CDA De Jesus participated in a brief tour of the Postal Museum Japan co-led by curator Ms. Mizuki IWASHIMA.

The UN commemorative stamp and first-day cover were launched in partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on 25 June 2025. They were designed by Third Secretary Marthy Angue of the Philippine Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta.
