MinDA Promotes Golden Opportunity to Invest in Mindanao
07 October 2022 – At the recent visit of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) led by its Chair, Secretary Maria Belen S. Acosta, the delegation promoted the golden opportunity to increase engagement with Mindanao.
“The dividends of peace and development have borne fruit, with increased economic activities and agricultural productivity,” remarked Secretary Acosta in her meetings with various Japanese stakeholders.
The MinDA team also provided updates on its priorities on improving connectivity through infrastructure development; upgrading its participation in the agricultural value chain; transition to renewable energy; and ensuring that all regions in Mindanao have access to economic necessities and resources such as water and electricity.
For his part, Philippine Embassy in Japan Chargé d’Affaires Robespierre Bolivar assured Secretary Acosta that the Embassy “will continue to promote cooperation with Japan towards contributing to renewable energy, food security and agricultural productivity in the Philippines, and we hope to be valuable link of MinDA in its engagement with Japan.”
The MinDA delegation also held meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) during the visit.
The visit was implemented under Japan’s Strategic Exchanges on Practical (STEP) Level Program for Government and Business Leaders.
