Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd Donates ¥50 million For Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) Victims
Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. officials visited the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and turned over a voluntary cash donation of ¥50 million for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) on 15 November 2013.
Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. Chairman Nobu Kemori was joined Mr. Hidenobu Tasaki, Manager of the General Affairs Department and Ms. Izumi Taniguchi. Chairman Kemori reiterated his company’s “profound sadness over the enormous loss of life and devastation to property [in the Philippine] caused by wind and flood damage due to Typhoon Yolanda” and conveyed his company’s “deepest sympathies to the many victims.” Chairman Kemori also handed over the letter of condolences of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. President Yoshiaki Nakazato.
Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez expressed his deep gratitude to Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. for its generous contribution towards the disaster relief and recovery efforts and support for the reconstruction of the affected areas.
