Secretary Mark Villar as Keynote Speaker for ADBI Book Launch on Financing Infrastructure
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar was the keynote speaker, along with senior fellow at the Global Economy and Development Program at Brookings Institution, Amar Bhattacharya, during the launching of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI’s) book “Financing Infrastructure in Asia and the Pacific: Impacts and New Sources” last April 9, 2018. The book addresses the problem of raising finances to support infrastructure’s role as a catalyst for sustainable growth. Secretary Villar presented the Philippine experience with the Star Toll Expressway and the impact of Ports Improvement on Education in the Philippines which were both cited as case studies in the book as well as the government’s partnership with Asian Development Bank and the latest update on the Build, Build. Build Infrastructure Program.
The book is a result of three years research and was presented by its three editors headed by Dean Naoki Yoshino of ADBI. The Philippine delegation included Undersecretary Emil Sadain of the DPWH, Undersecretary Grace Karen G. Singson of the Department of Finance and ADBI Philippines Executive Director Mr. Paul G. Dominguez.
