PHL Embassy in Tokyo Receives Cash Donation from Marubeni for Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and Bohol Earthquake victims
Representatives of Marubeni Corporation, one of Japan’s largest general trading companies, called on Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel M. Lopez last 12 November 2012 to convey that it has donated a total amount of ¥15 million (approximately PHP6.7 million) for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) and PHP1 million for those affected by the recent 7.2 magnitude Bohol earthquake in the Philippines.
Former Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Makoto Katsura, in his capacity as Corporate Advisor to Marubeni Corporation, expressed his company’s sympathy for the tragic loss that occurred in central Philippines. Ambassador Katsura said that Marubeni is coursing its donations through the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (NDRRMC) in the Philippines.
Accompanying Ambassador Katsura were General Manager Kazuomi Takahasi and Assistant Manager Aya Matsuo of Marubeni’s Global Strategy and Coordination Department, Asia-Oceania Team.
Ambassador Lopez thanked Ambassador Katsura and the Marubeni Corporation for their generous contribution. He said that Marubeni’s assistance will help the Philippines overcome the difficulties caused by these natural calamities and help rebuild lives as soon as possible.
