Philippines Showcases High-quality Food Products at FOODEX Japan 2026

TOKYO, 17 March 2026 – The Philippines showcased the diversity and quality of its agricultural and food exports at FOODEX Japan 2026, one of Asia’s largest food and beverage trade exhibitions, through a national pavilion featuring 30 Philippine companies presenting fresh produce and a range of promising food products. The country’s participation also forms part of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan.

Located at the East Hall of Tokyo Big Sight, the Philippine Pavilion at FOODEX Japan highlighted the country’s vibrant food sector and offered international buyers an opportunity to explore a wide variety of Philippine agricultural and food products.

The Philippine Pavilion formally opened on 10 March 2026 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Agriculture Undersecretary Philip Young, Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene Garcia-Albano, and Isabela Governor Rodolfo Albano III, together with officials from the Department of Agriculture and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, as well as Filipino exhibitors participating in the event.

Governor Albano also led a delegation of entrepreneurs from Isabela who are promoting products from the province’s highly productive agricultural sector.

The Philippine Pavilion featured a wide array of fresh produce, including the Philippines’ globally recognized bananas, alongside numerous emerging food and beverage products that reflect the dynamism, innovation and expanding global competitiveness of the Philippine food industry.

The Philippines is a major supplier of agricultural products to Japan, with annual exports valued at around USD 1 billion. These exports include fresh fruits, processed food products, and other agricultural goods that contribute to Japan’s stable, diversified, and affordable food supply.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Filipino exporters in expanding their reach in the Japanese market through product promotion and business matching initiatives, and the pursuit of more favorable policies that would benefit both Filipino exporters and Japanese consumers.

Through its participation in FOODEX Japan 2026, the Department of Agriculture reported total estimated sales of USD 18.88 million, comprising USD 285,619 in booked sales and USD 18,529,900 currently under negotiation. The Philippines aims to further expand market opportunities for its food exporters, deepen trade linkages with Japan and other global markets towards shared prosperity, and further promote the country as a reliable source of high-quality agricultural products and innovative food brands.
