Philippine Foreign Service Personnel in Japan Are Recipients of the 2017 DFA Awards

Nine (9) personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and two (2) Philippine Honorary Consular Officers in Japan were recipients of the 2017 Department-level Awards given annually by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in celebration of the DFA Foundation Day. Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V presented the awards to those awardees that were present at the flag ceremony held at the Embassy on 04 September 2017:
2017 DFA LOYALTY AWARD
27 Years – Ms. Asako N. Alarcon, Consul-General ad honorem (Okinawa);
25 Years – Mr. Eduardo M.R. Meñez, Deputy Chief of Mission; Mr. Kenichi
Tobe, Consul ad honorem (Hokkaido); Mr. Jose Juancho A. Perez, Attaché;
Ms. Marylou A. Komatsu (local hire)
20 Years – Mr. Francis Allan T. Pasno (local hire); Ms. Kumiko Fujie (local hire)
10 Years – Ms. Kathleen N. Marges-Akim, Attaché; Ms. Rio P. Rodriguez-

The Loyalty Award is given to those who had long years of dedicated, loyal and committed service to the Department of Foreign Affairs. All Loyalty Awardees received their pins (Gold pin for 27 years; Silver pin for 25 and 20 years; and Bronze pin for 10 years), certificates and cash incentives. Honorary Consular Officers, however, who were recipient of the Loyalty Award receive only the pins and certificates.
2017 DFA OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE AWARD

Messrs. Cuevas and Zafra were awarded the 2017 DFA Outstanding Employee Award in recognition of their loyalty, dedication, commitment and exemplary performance of duties in the Embassy thereby inspiring their colleagues to strive for excellence. Both were among the 68 DFA Outstanding Employee Awardees for 2017. For this award, each of them received a plaque and a cash incentive.
2017 DFA ASSISTANCE-TO-NATIONALS AWARD
Ms. Rio P. Rodriguez-Alcantara, Attaché
Ms. Rodriguez-Alcantara, who is a DFA Loyalty Awardee this year, also received the Assistance-to-Nationals Award in recognition of her exemplary performance, selfless service, and steadfast participation in responding to the various consular and ATN-related cases in Tokyo. She joined the Embassy in 2014 and was assigned as Consular Assistant and Attaché. She was among the nine (9) ATN Awardees (Individual Category) for 2017. For this award, she received a plaque and a cash incentive.
