Philippine Embassy Welcomes Pinoy Boy Band BGYO During Courtesy Call

The Philippine Embassy, led by Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, welcomed Filipino boy band BGYO today, 13 March 2026, ahead of their performance at D.U.N.K. Showcase tomorrow, 14 March 2026, at K-Arena in Yokohama.
The group, composed of members Akira, Gelo, JL, Mikki, and Nate, debuted on 2021 with their hit single “The Light”. The album of the same title topped the iTunes Philippines’ Top 100 albums chart for twelve consecutive days — the longest chart-topping run by a Filipino act on said music platform.
Philippine Deputy Chief of Mission Christian L. De Jesus, in his message on behalf of Ambassador Garcia-Albano, thanked BGYO for promoting Philippine culture and performing arts on the international stage through the D.U.N.K. Showcase. He noted that the event will also be an opportunity to highlight Philippines-Japan friendship, especially in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippines-Japan relations this year.
BGYO is one of the three (3) Filipino groups, along with SB19 and Cup of Joe, who will perform at the D.U.N.K. Showcase, a major music and dance festival on 13-15 March 2026.
BGYO was accompanied by ABS-CBN executive and Star Magic head, Director Laurenti Dyogi, and BGYO and ABS-CBN management teams during the courtesy call.
