Philippine Embassy Joins ASEAN Embassies in Tokyo For A Family Day Filled With Fun, Friendship and Festivities

The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, led by Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Christian L. de Jesus, participated in the annual ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day held on 15 November 2025 at Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa City, Tokyo.

TOKYO, 17 November 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan joined the rest of the embassies of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) based in Tokyo for the annual ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day held on 15 November 2025 at Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa City, Tokyo.

More than 90 Embassy personnel, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Christian L. de Jesus, together with their family members, took part in the event, which featured friendly games for heads of mission, adults, and children, including tug-of-war, three-legged race, beanbag toss, sponge relay, and musical chairs.

Every ASEAN embassy displayed impressive teamwork and camaraderie. The Philippine Embassy’s consistent performance across all events allowed it to accumulate the highest total points and emerge as the overall games champion.

Philippine Embassy personnel actively participated in the games during the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day held on 15 November 2025 at Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa City, Tokyo, and emerged as champions.

The Embassy of Viet Nam was the lead organizer for this year’s ACT Family Day. Dr. Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre, graced and actively participated in the event.

Each ASEAN embassy also served various specialties from their home countries, which was shared with all the event participants. The Philippine Embassy showcased its local cuisine with dishes such as adobo flakes and minatamis na saging (sweetened Philippine bananas), and San Miguel Beer.

“The spirit of a strong and vibrant ASEAN Community is very much alive during our annual Family Day, with everyone enjoying the festivities as well as the diverse cuisines of the ASEAN member states. As the Philippines commences its chairship of the Association in 2026, we are assured that the ASEAN family in Tokyo remains committed to the ideals of inclusivity, camaraderie, and unity in diversity,” underscored Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano following the event.

The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo emerged as game champions during the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day held on 15 November 2025 at Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa City, Tokyo. Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu (in red) handed the award to Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Christian L. de Jesus.

All eleven (11) ASEAN member states were represented during the ACT Family Day, with the Embassy of Timor Leste, ACT’s newest member, participating for the first time.

The Philippines is set to chair ASEAN next year with the theme “Navigating our Future, Together”.
