Philippine Embassy in Tokyo Welcomes Senator JV Ejercito and Delegation during their Benchmarking Study Mission in Japan
19 June 2018 – Senator Joseph Victor G. Ejercito, together with officials from the Senate’s Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office, House of Representatives’ Committee on Appropriation, and the Development Academy of the Philippines, visited the Philippine Embassy and joined its flag-raising ceremony on 18 June 2018.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Jose C. Laurel briefed the delegation on the deeply rooted and cordial relationship of the Philippines and Japan. He highlighted the active exchanges among members of the parliaments of the two countries. He cited in particular the Japan-Philippines Parliamentarians Friendship League (JPPFL) which serves as a platform for promoting and sustaining robust relations and parliamentary exchanges. Senator JV Ejercito, for his part, shared insights on good relations with Japan and tapping its competitive advantages.
The delegation is in Tokyo from 17 to 23 June 2018 for a benchmarking study mission as part of an on-going partnership between Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) and the Development Academy of the Philippines. Under its Program for Capability Building on Innovative Leadership for Legislative Staff, DAP brings participants on study tours about legislative processes and protocols, as well as exposure to leadership models of partner countries.
