Philippine Embassy Honors 28 Filipino Graduates at the Paghayo sa Taglagas 2024 of the AFSJ
The Philippine Embassy hosts the 2024 Paghayo sa Taglagas of the Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ) honoring 28 Filipino graduates from the various universities in Japan.
On 24 September 2024, a hybrid gathering was held at the Embassy’s Siazon Hall, attended by graduates together with their families and friends.
Philippine Ambassador to Japan, Her Excellency Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, praised the 28 honorees for their incredible hard work that led to the completion of their respective degrees in their various fields of studies. The Ambassador also acknowledged the graduates’ families for the support they have provided to the graduates while they were living and studying abroad.
Ambassador Garcia-Albano also thanked the AFSJ for being the Filipino students’ support system in Japan.
The other speakers during the program included Dr. Jose Angelo A. Jokson, PhD in Civil Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr., President, Nueva Vizcaya State University, and Dr. Niel H. Tan Gana Jr., President, Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES) Inc.
The attendees shared a simple feast featuring Filipino Cuisine with dishes like “kare-kare” and “palabok”, among others, after the ceremony.
