Philippine Embassy Exchanges Views With Tohoku University Professors, Students
18 November 2021 – To promote awareness on the Philippines’ disaster risk reduction efforts, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo engaged with Tohoku University professors and students through their Graduate School of Law, School of Public Policy program.
The discussions will form part of the students’ project, under their post-graduate degree course, to provide recommendations to the Japanese government in furthering bilateral, regional and international cooperation on building a disaster resilient society.
The Embassy, through Minister and Consul Leah Victoria C. Rodriguez, underscored the strong commitment of the Philippines to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, and provided information on how the country has adopted measures to lessen the country’s vulnerabilities and mitigate the effects of disasters, and build resilience of its people.
The Embassy supports efforts in the Philippines’ goal of transforming towards equity and resiliency, under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, which consists of strategies to expand economic opportunities, accelerate human capital development, reduce vulnerability and build safe and secure communities.
