Philippine Embassy, CFO Reaffirm Shared Commitment to Support Filipino Migrants in Japan
TOKYO, 31 July 2025 — On behalf of Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, Acting Consul General Mary Joy R. Ramirez led the Embassy’s delegation in a meeting with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) during the latter’s study visit to Japan. In their meeting on 23 July 2025, the Embassy and CFO reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in delivering comprehensive orientation programs and support services for Filipino migrants in the host country.
On 24 July, the Embassy also participated in a meeting on the Paglalayag Online Orientation Program for arriving and newly-arrived Filipino migrants in Japan. The initiative is spearheaded by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, in partnership with the CFO, the Embassy, Japan’s Immigration Services Agency, and various Japan-based non-governmental organizations.
The meeting focused on preparations for the next Paglalayag session scheduled for October 2025 and discussed recommendations to enhance the program’s effectiveness in helping Filipino migrants navigate daily life and integrate more smoothly into Japanese society.
