25 March 2026 – In celebration of National Women’s Month, Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano attended the Women in Law Japan (WILJ) 10th Anniversary Gala held on 2 March 2026 at the Tokyo American Club in Roppongi, Tokyo.

The program featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Kathy Matsui, General Partner at MPower Partners Fund L.P.; Andrijana Cvetkovikj, CEO and Founder of BrioNexus; and Sarah Liu, Founder and Managing Director of TDC Global. The discussions highlighted leadership, innovation, and the evolving role of women in the legal and business sectors.

The event also marked a significant milestone for WILJ, tracing its journey over the past decade from an informal network of women lawyers in Japan to a dynamic platform connecting legal professionals across sectors. In reflecting on its progress, WILJ reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s leadership in the legal profession, harnessing the transformative potential of technology and innovation, and fostering collaboration to build inclusive and supportive professional communities.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano, herself a lawyer and former legislator in the Philippines, expressed appreciation for the organization’s contributions to empowering women in law. As the first woman Philippine Ambassador to Japan, she underscored the importance of sustained efforts to promote gender equality, leadership, and cross-sector collaboration in both national and international contexts.
