PH Gallery “The Drawing Room” Featured in Tokyo-based International Contemporary Art Fair

TOKYO, 17 September 2025 – The Philippine Embassy extended its support to Filipino contemporary art gallery, The Drawing Room, at the Tokyo Gendai Art Fair during its VIP preview on 11 September 2025 at PACIFICO Yokohama.
Led by its founder, Mr. Cesar H. Villalon, Jr., The Drawing Room’s exhibition entitled “States of Flux – Myth, Memory and Materiality,” showcased distinct artworks by Robert Gutierrez who used gouache on clay board technique; Kelli Maeshiro with her installations using plastics and everyday materials; and Atsuko Yamagata who, aside from other materials, used handmade paper produced by Japanese master papermaker, Asao Shimura, based in Benguet, Philippines.

The Drawing Room, the lone Filipino gallery in exhibition, has been participating in the Tokyo Gendai Art Fair since its launch in 2023. This year’s edition features more than 60 galleries from Japan, across Asia and beyond, highlighting the contemporary works of renowned and emerging artists.
