PH Embassy Continues National Heritage Month Celebration with Cultural Presentation For Japanese Audience

TOKYO, 14 May 2026 – As part of its continuing celebration of National Heritage Month, the Philippine Embassy in Japan conducted a cultural presentation showcasing the Philippines’ history, heritage, and traditions for an all-Japanese audience on 08 May 2026 at the Embassy’s Multi-Purpose Hall.

“This month of May, the Philippines is celebrating National Heritage Month with the theme ‘Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future’. As we commemorate our rich and vibrant heritage and deeply-rooted traditions, underscored by strong family ties and community spirit, we also advocate for the preservation and promotion of our patrimony that is uniquely Filipino. An important part of our heritage is our national anthem entitled ‘Lupang Hinirang’ which is a valued symbol of our national sovereignty, unity, and identity. It honors our history as a Filipino people, and the sacrifices of our forebears whose vision was to build a brighter future for generations of Filipinos,” underscored Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Christian L. de Jesus, during his welcome remarks on behalf of Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano.

First Secretary and Consul Fatima G. Quintin shared with the participants the significance of the celebration of National Heritage Month in the Philippines.

The program featured a learning session on the history and meaning of the Philippine national anthem, followed by an interactive segment where participants experienced singing Lupang Hinirang.

Following the learning session on the history and significance of the Philippine national anthem, participants joined an interactive singing of the anthem.

The event also served as an opportunity to promote the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Philippines-Japan Diplomatic Relations this year. Filipino and Japanese snacks, including pancit guisado, lumpia and chicken karaage, were served to the participants as part of this celebration.

Around sixty (60) participants, gathered by the Ring of National Anthem Association, attended the activity.
