Filipino Photographers in Focus in the Month of Photography, Tokyo 2012
30 May 2012. The Photographic Society of Japan chose the Philippines as the country of focus for the Month of Photography, Tokyo 2012 featuring twelve (12) Filipino photographers and their works in four galleries in Tokyo from 23 May-14 June 2012.
The photographers chosen to exhibit in “The Hope and The Dream in Filipino” were Veejay Villafranca, Jake Versoza, Bahag, Isa Lorenzo, Eric De Leon Zamuco, Poklong Anading, Wawi Navarroza, Frank Callaghan, Geloy Maligaya Concepcion, Neil Oshima, Vincent Rufo, and Cherly Baldicantos.
The Photographic Society of Japan mounts such annual exhibitions to facilitate cultural exchanges with Japan and other countries, including the Philippines through the medium of photography.
On behalf of Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez, Chargé d’affaires Gina Jamoralin, a.i. said, “I hope that the visitors to this year’s exhibition will be able to appreciate the life and culture in the Philippines and beyond as seen through the lens of our featured Filipino photographers. I also hope that our participation will and enrich the culture of photography and deepen understanding and facilitate more cultural exchanges between our two countries.”
