Tokyo Residents Learn About The Philippines Through Annual Stamp Rally
Residents of Tokyo’s Minato City visited the Philippine Embassy on 21 February 2024 for the annual Minato City Stamp Rally held at the Sentro Rizal – Tokyo Library. Five (5) children and thirteen (13) adults were presented with a video introducing the Philippines, including the country’s languages, cuisine, and culture.
Minato City is where the Embassy is located.
The presentation included an overview of the role and functions of the Philippine Embassy as well as information on Philippines -Japan relations. The participants also asked questions about the Philippines during their visit.
Mr. Kita, one of the participants, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit the Embassy. He also expressed his hope that he could come back together with the members of the Japan Association of Senior Service, an association of retirees in Japan, so that they can also learn more about the Philippines.
At the end of the presentation, the participants received an “omiyage” from the Embassy containing Philippine products and tourism brochures. They were also able to “collect” Embassy stamps as part of the program.
The Minato Stamp Rally is annual program organized by the Minato City Government as an opportunity for the residents to familiarize themselves with other countries with the goal of developing mutual understanding and fostering people-to-people exchanges.
