Tokyo PE achieves rare three-peat at ACT Bowling Tournament
TOKYO, Japan, 1 December 2018. For the third consecutive year, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo came out with the highest team score at the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Bowling Tournament 2018. For this feat, the ACT Bowling Tournament Trophy will be permanently housed at Tokyo PE pursuant to an ACT rule that an embassy recording three consecutive wins would become the trophy’s permanent owner.
Tokyo PE finished strong with a team score of 2,942 pins. Second-place winner was the Royal Thai Embassy. The Embassy of Laos rounded out the top three teams for the friendly competition. All ten (10) ASEAN Embassies in Tokyo fielded strong teams to the event.
Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V cheered from the sidelines as Deputy Chief of Mission Eduardo M.R. Meñez and IT Specialist Mars Zafra paced the team early with 424 and 460, respectively. Economic Assistant Diane Merce B. Bartolome bowled with 413 pins and finished as First-Runner in the Women’s Individual Category.
Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Norikazu Suzuki opened the tournament in Minato-ku, Tokyo, with the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore as host.
The annual ACT Bowling Tournament has grown in participation and proven to be a great means for all ASEAN Member States in Tokyo to strengthen their camaraderie through sports.
