The Philippine Embassy Participates in the 2021 Ikebana International Fair
The Philippine Embassy participated in the 2021 Ikebana International Fair on 14 December 2021 at the Royal Park Hotel in Tokyo. This event was graced by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado and Madame Yuko Hayashi, Spouse of Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At the opening ceremony, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado spoke of “hope,” which mirrors the organizer’s unwavering efforts to hold the 2021 Ikebana International Fair despite the current adversities caused by the pandemic. She expressed her appreciation to the organizers and the twenty (20) Embassies that responded to the call for charity through an endeavor which she described as “a quest for hope and mutual friendship”.
Prior to the Opening Ceremony, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado went around the Ikebana display area, with creations by various representatives from Ikebana schools, and the Fair area, with the Embassy booths.
The Philippine Embassy booth featured Filipiniana handicrafts, bags and accessories as well as famous and well-loved food items such as the Philippines’ dried mangoes and banana ‘Saba’ chips, and fruit juices.
The Ikebana International Fair is the biggest annual event of the Ikebana International Tokyo Founding Chapter. It is also a charity project open to all diplomatic missions in Tokyo, providing an opportunity to feature each country’s local products and tourist destinations.
