Philippine Embassy Receives Joudo-shu Buddhist Sect Donation for Typhoon Yolanda Survivors
(Tokyo – 12 March 2014) – Officials of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, Japan led by Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez today received JPY 744,029 as financial donation for typhoon Yolanda survivors from the Joudo-shu Buddhist Sect, the most widely practiced branch of Buddhism in Japan.
Representatives from the Joudo-shu Disaster Rehabilitation Bureau headed by its Director General Rev. Jinkai Shintani, Rev. Yoshihisa Shimamura, Mr. Kazumichi Maruyama, and Ms. Reika Hododa came to the embassy to offer the organization’s support and sympathies for the Philippines and those affected by typhoon Yolanda.
The Joudo-shu has previously donated JPY 1 Million for the typhoon victims on their first visit to the embassy last November 20, 2013.
