TOKYO, 25 July 2025 – The Philippine Embassy welcomed members of Salamat A, a student-led organization from Nihon University, during a courtesy visit at the chancery on 25 July 2025, and commended the group for its long-standing community-based initiatives in the Philippines, particularly in Cavite.
Salamat A, organized by Dr. Hitoshi Inoue in 2006, supports Filipino communities through scholarship grants, book and instrument donations, Christmas packages, and school outreach activities. Since 2007, Salamat A has also conducted study tours in the Philippines that combine cultural immersion and tourism with volunteer work. Its next study tour is scheduled for August 2025.
During the courtesy visit, the Embassy also presented a video on the overview of Philippines-Japan bilateral relations, and must-see places and things to do in the Philippines. It also encouraged the Salamat A members to participate in the Embassy’s various cultural activities.
The Embassy underscored that initiatives such as those organized by Salamat A are a testament to the strong people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Japan. The Embassy expressed hope that these linkages would be further strengthened as both countries prepare to celebrate their 70th year of diplomatic relations in 2026.
Also accompanying the Salamat A student volunteers were Dr. Inoue; Dr. Saori Kamozawa of Nihon University; and Mr. Ryota Asami, Representative Director of the Ring of National Anthem Association, who coordinated the courtesy visit.
