Philippine Embassy Features 70th Anniversary of PH-JP Friendship in Minato Stamp Tour

During the Philippine Embassy in Japan leg of the Minato Stamp Rally on 09 February 2026, Embassy personnel, namely, Cultural Officer and Attaché Ma. Alyssa Jo A. Bacongco (standing, right), and translator/interpreter, Ms. Chihiro Watanabe (standing, left) gave a cultural presentation which highlighted the 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations in 2026.

TOKYO, 17 February 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan welcomed residents of Minato City on 09 February 2026 for the annual Minato Stamp Rally organized by the city government.

During the activity, the Embassy highlighted the 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations this year, with a special stamp featuring the anniversary logo designed by Filipino graphic artist, Mr. Edmon Fuerte.

The Philippine Embassy in Japan featured a special stamp on the 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations during the 2026 edition of the Minato Stamp Rally organized by the Minato City Government.

Anchored on the anniversary theme “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities,” the logo features ropes depicting the abaca (Manila hemp) rope, the Philippines’ very first export to Japan, and the Japanese shimenawa rope. The logo symbolizes decades of the countries’ enduring partnership and a shared commitment to building a brighter future for the peoples of the Philippines and Japan. The logo design also incorporates the colors of the Philippine and Japanese flags, the three stars and the sun from the Philippine flag, and the hinomaru sun from the Japanese flag.

“The Philippine Embassy is always delighted to participate in the Minato Stamp Rally, for it symbolizes cultural understanding between the Philippines and Japan, especially with the residents of Minato City, which serves as home to many Filipinos. This year, we especially highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections in strengthening the Philippines-Japan friendship, as we celebrate our milestone 70th anniversary,” underscored Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano following the activity.

Minato City residents avail of the Philippine Embassy in Japan’s special stamp on the 70th anniversary of the normalization of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations during the 2026 edition of the Minato Stamp Rally organized by the Minato City Government.

The Embassy leg of the Minato Stamp Rally, which was held at Sentro Rizal-Tokyo, also included a Philippine cultural presentation and a tour of its library. Stickers showcasing Philippine culture and heritage were distributed to the stamp tour participants as a token of their visit.

This year’s Minato Stamp Tour is being held from 03 February 2026 until 07 March 2026, and participating residents will be visiting around 20 embassies and international organizations located in the city.
