Philippine Eagle Painting Finds Home at the Philippine Embassy in Japan
TOKYO, 11 July 2025 – On behalf of Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Christian L. De Jesus received the painting Haring Agila ng Pilipinas (King Eagle of the Philippines) from Filipino visual artist Bing Famoso. The artwork was donated to the Philippine Embassy in Japan as part of the artist’s advocacy for nature conservation through art.
The painting, which features the Philippine eagle as depicted in the Philippine e-passport, is the 14th piece in Ms. Famoso’s series. A rare and endangered species endemic to the Philippines, the Philippine eagle symbolizes the strength and resilience of the Filipino people.
Ms. Famoso, who is also the founder of the Philippine Botanical Art Society and the Philippine Fauna Art Society, has actively promoted environmental awareness through art in various countries. Her advocacy extends to Filipino communities abroad, where she shares her work with Philippine Foreign Service Posts.
Haring Agila ng Pilipinas will now form part of the Embassy’s permanent art collection, serving as a lasting tribute to the Philippines’ natural heritage and a visual inspiration for all visitors.
