PH Law School Society Named Overall Champion in Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition in Tokyo

The Philippine Embassy in Japan extends its warmest congratulations to the Ateneo Society of International Law (ASIL) for being named overall champion in the 2025 Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition held on 05-06 August 2025 in Tokyo. ASIL was represented by oralists, Ms. Therese Marie T. Ybañez and Mr. Joemari Victor R. Burgos, and was coached by Atty. Jillian Margaux V. Roy.
Mr. Burgos also received the 1st Best Respondent Oralist award, while Ms. Ybañez bagged the 2nd Best Respondent Oralist and 2nd Best Applicant Oralist awards.
“I am very proud of ASIL for their outstanding performance in the moot court competition. Their lean yet formidable team is a testament to the depth of expertise among Philippine law practitioners and students in international law, and a clear reflection of the tremendous potential of our future lawyers to lead and excel,” said the Ambassador.
Established in 1999, the Asia Cup has been one of the leading moot court events in Asia. It has been co-organized by the Japanese Society of International Law and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) since 2013. For the 2025 edition, 73 universities from 19 countries participated. END
