National Security Adviser Eduardo Año Calls On Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and Foreign Minister Hayashi

On 15 June, in a visit to Tokyo, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año and members of his delegation paid a courtesy call on Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio and on Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa.
In his opening remarks, PM Kishida recalled the successful visit of the President and the agreement of the Philippines and Japan to deepen cooperation. He observed that, as neighbors and maritime countries, the Philippines and Japan would maintain a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
NSA Año conveyed the warm regards of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., and read out the special message of the President to PM Kishida, thanking him for Japan’s support for the Philippines. NSA Año congratulated Japan for its successful hosting of the G7 Summit, and expressed deep appreciation for Japan’s support for the Arbitral Award and for its strong position on the rules-based international maritime order.

NSA Año thanked Japan for its friendship, and conveyed how the President highly values cooperation with Japan.
Both sides had a fruitful exchange of views on areas of shared interest and bilateral cooperation.
